Grains Of Dirt is the ministry of Tim Schaertel. The name is inspired from Genesis 2:7 - The Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. Not only does the name describe what God has formed us from, but GOD is in the name itself, just as GOD abides within His elect people through the Holy Spirit.
I am 45 years old, and have been married to my wife Kathy for almost 20 years. We don’t have any children, but we have had several dogs we have adopted. I am currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry. I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior on September 13th, 2001. By His grace, He has changed my heart to long for more and more of Him, and to go out wherever He leads to proclaim His Glorious Gospel. I have served as an elder at a church, and in prison ministry.
I began this ministry as a music ministry, but it has since branched out into a Bible teaching ministry. I teach the Bible at The Legacy Senior Living Home on a bi-weekly basis. I also teach at The Open-Door Mission in Rochester New York once a month. Through this ministry, I have seen many people come to know the Lord and grow in their faith, which is entirely the work of God’s Spirit working through a very flawed vessel such as myself. It is my hope and prayer that through this web site, people from all over the world will hear the voice of their creator calling them to salvation in Christ while growing us all in our faith in Him.
I approach the Holy Scriptures from a Reformed Protestant perspective, though I am not affiliated with any one particular denomination. I believe The Reformed Protestant approach to scripture presents the most consistent and accurate understanding of the Bible as a whole. Through the “Five Solas” that were promoted during the Protestant Reformation we can accurately understand and apply the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The “Five Solas” being that we are saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone, as taught by Scripture alone, for the Glory of God alone.
